Core 5 is a professional consultancy based in London, offering cost management and commercial advice to clients across the built environment. With a presence at South Bank Central—30 Stamford Street, SE1—the company operates in a fast-paced, data-driven setting where reliable infrastructure and connectivity are essential to daily operations.
Datel was engaged to carry out structured cabling works at Core 5’s office located on Level 6 of South Bank Central. The scope included both high-level and low-level CAT 6A data cabling, the installation of a new comms cabinet, and configuration of power distribution units. The works were designed to support the client’s growing technology demands while maintaining tidy, clearly labelled infrastructure for ease of management and future upgrades.
The objective was to enhance the network infrastructure within Core 5’s office environment by delivering a clean, efficient, and scalable data cabling solution. Specific goals included:
Ensuring consistent and high-performance data connectivity.
Providing structured cabling aligned with marked routes for optimal layout and access.
Delivering clear labelling and organisation within the MCR (Main Communications Room) to support long-term manageability.
Preparing the space to accommodate increased digital demands and equipment loads.
High-Level Cabling:
18 x CAT 6A data cables installed along marked ceiling routes using Jezmat for containment and support.
Low-Level Cabling:
320 x CAT 6A data cables routed at workstation level for general use and connectivity.
Communications Room:
A new MCR cabinet was installed on Level 6, along with associated patch panels and structured labelling for clarity and maintenance.
Labelling & Organisation:
All panels, patch points, and cabling routes were clearly labelled and documented as part of the handover.
Power Distribution:
Power Distribution Units were installed to support critical equipment in the comms cabinet.
The project was completed efficiently, with all works delivered to a high standard of finish and in line with the agreed specification. The new cabling infrastructure has improved network reliability, reduced cable clutter, and created a clean and future-proofed setup for Core 5’s office.
